Keeping Track of Pests

Organic Farming

Organic farming is becoming increasingly important for long-term sustainability of food production.  In contrast to conventional farming, organic farming minimizes the impact of food production on the environment. One of the challenges of organic farming is the increased complexity of natural variables. CyberTracker makes it possible to gather large quantities of good data on an ongoing basis.

Integrated Pest Management

CyberTracker enables farm workers to record observations of pests and predator species on a hand-held computer, which they then offload on to a base station PC. The base station PC shows a digital map of the farm, as well as spreadsheets and graphs to keep track of pest and predator populations. This allows the farmer to make informed decisions on whether or not to apply pesticides.

Where there are healthy predator populations he or she does not have to use pesticides, which not only saves money but also minimises the negative impact on the environment.
